Lefrançois-BioLegend Memorial Award

Established to honor the memory of AAI member Leo Lefrançois, Ph.D., this award is intended to advance the career of a trainee member who attends the AAI annual meeting and presents an outstanding abstract specifically in the area of mucosal immunology. This award is generously supported by BioLegend and donations from friends and colleagues of Dr. Lefrançois.

Selection is based on submission of an outstanding abstract selected for podium presentation at the meeting. The award recipient will be recognized and presented with an award certificate during an awards ceremony at IMMUNOLOGY2027™. A monetary award of $1,000 will be paid by ACH or wire transfer to the recipient following the AAI meeting. This award may not be combined with other awards or grants for the AAI annual meeting.

Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must meet all of these requirements:

1. Be an AAI Trainee member for 2027 with dues paid no later than November 17, 2026.
2. Have submitted a first-author abstract for presentation at IMMUNOLOGY2027™ in the topic category of Mucosal and Regional Immunology by November 17, 2026. Be sure to select the option during abstract submission that indicates you are willing to make a podium presentation at the meeting.

How to Qualify

Any AAI Trainee member who submits a first-author abstract to IMMUNOLOGY2027™ in the topic category of Mucosal and Regional Immunology automatically will be considered, provided that you meet all eligibility requirements above and select the option during abstract submission that indicates you are willing to make a podium presentation at the meeting. Candidates may be asked to provide a curriculum vitae.
